Earnings are also sending companies into the red as JDS Uniphase (JDSU) is struggling after reporting a Q3 loss of $6.2 mln. Smith & Nephew (SNN) shares are being driven lower as the medical device maker stated that 2008 profits will likely decrease in efforts to crack down on unacceptable sales practices in Europe.
