Resources | Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE)

Description:

The PCE is actually a section of the Income and Spending report; this is a measure of changes in prices of consumer goods and services.

Key Point:

The major points that are highlighted throughout the PCE report are durable goods, nondurable goods, and services. The PCE happens to be the most concise measure of consumer spending and tends to be a better measure than retail sales. A change in PCE can tend to be a sign of shifts in business cycles.
